 Above patch has more efficient resizing, without a clone. Now we need a
 way to detect the cursor position to keep the cursor in view, but that's
 less vital. Ideally we need to move to something like this anyway. Cloning
 the content is slow and error prone. It's a start. Not sure if this would
 be good for 4.2.2, we might just want to ignore the clone for now.
