Comment:

 There a many dups of this (search for syntax highlighting), and the topic
 has been discussed -- and rejected -- to death in the past. The decision
 was to make it -- and leave it -- as plugin material.

 There even were talks about removing the code editors altogether.

 Suggesting close/wontfix.
