Comment:

 I was thinking about this just the other day, so I was happy to see this
 ticket updated to see I wasn't the only one. I'm reopening for further
 consideration. I think that recognizing '%' in 'value' might pose backward
 compatibility problems, but there are other ways of tackling this (like
 another argument 'like_type' => 'both|front|back').
