Comment:

 This adds a lot more complexity when trying to read functions.php for not
 a lot of gain for most people. It could be a really cool set-it-and-forget
 it plugin though. It might be neat to see more "Extras" plugins for
 default themes.

 Marking as wontfix with hopes for a plugin!
