Comment:

 Testing in Chrome 38.0.2125.104 m on Win7, not able to reproduce it
 either. TinyMCE pads empty nodes with U+FEFF so the caret can be placed
 there (bugfix for contentEditable).

 This bug is most likely triggered by the styles added by TwentyTwelve. If
 you can isolate which one triggers it, we can find a workaround.
