 Thought I'd weigh in here again.

 It's really frustrating to have functionality that exists on my site that
 the menu system doesn't help me link to. If I have a post type of "beer"
 and /beers/ exists, I want to see that and be able to link to it.

 Having said that, I see that posts is a special case as far as archives. I
 agree that this "odd man out" issue is a pain, and I'm not totally sure
 what the best path from here is. I know there are some UI concerns, which
 pulls this out of my wheelhouse, but I still think it's a gap in our menu
 system that really needs to be addressed. Maybe the way it's currently
 being addressed in this ticket isn't the best option, but if that's the
 case I'd love to hear some other ideas.
