 Hi

 I appreciate you double checking. The problem still exists when changing
 to the default theme but I looked - and there were six plugins network
 activated!

 After deactivating all six then the editor account worked. I then added
 one back at a time until the culprit was found. "Embed any document"
 network activated returns a "you do not have permission" for the editor
 account - shown at the bottom left of the page.

 I'll contact the author of the plugin and let them know.

 Glad this wasn't a WP issue after all !
