 I couldn't figure out if your example was valid.  I was able to get this
 to work with the same plugin:

 {{{
 [su_button url="{su_meta key='url_for_testing'}"]Button text[/su_button]
 }}}

 I added a custom field named url_for_testing and set the value to
 http://wordpress.org/ and then the plugin created a button that linked me
 to the WordPress site as expected.
