Comment:

 Unfortunately, per #26198, there is no good way to avoid this issue, and
 it's present in all of the bundled themes.

 In this specific case (3 levels deep), it is even worse, but there is
 still no good way to work around it for secondary items, let alone
 additional levels of depth. If a good solution emerges, re-opening #26198
 would be good for discussion.
