 I really like this new UI, but realized that the user may not remember
 which category was set as default when authoring a new post. I'm not sure
 this is in the scope of this patch, but maybe having a "(default)" will
 remind the user that that category will be automatically applied if no
 other category is manually selected? I've attached a simple implementation
 of this in 26268.show.default.diff .
