 This seems to be UI Autocomplete bug/deficiency. For example in Japanese
 the "spelling" for Kyoto is `京` (according to Google translate), however
 that won't trigger an autocomplete search/ajax as JS sees it as one char.
 Perhaps worth it opening a ticket upstream.
