 I think the idea is to use [source:tags/3.9.1/src/wp-admin/includes/meta-
 boxes.php#L373 post_tags_meta_box()] for categories instead of
 [source:tags/3.9.1/src/wp-admin/includes/meta-boxes.php#L415
 post_categories_meta_box()], so that you have an input with autocomplete,
 and don't have to scroll through hundreds of categories.

 This should already be possible with a plugin.
