 Somewhat unrelated sidenote: `glob()` [http://jameshalsall.co.uk/posts
 /glob-performance-for-finding-files-in-php may actually be faster] than
 the current `opendir()`/`readdir()` method used in `get_plugins()`, in
 addition to being much less code (and therefore more readable).
