 This only occurs for the '''first''' sub page in the whole tree.

 For example - if you have this structure:


 {{{
   Page 1
     Page 1.1
     Page 1.2
   Page 2
   Page 3
   ...
 }}}

 Then you will get a stray `</p>` after Page 1.

 And no - this is not fixed yet in WP 3.8.1.
