Comment:

 This is an interesting idea. This is related to ticket #23314 because
 currently WordPress does not offer a way to save changes to a published
 post without updating the published post. Once that ticket gets a fix your
 issue would be easier to resolve.  The 'Save as Draft' button suggested in
 the other ticket could offer a publish later feature - create a revision,
 then schedule a restore of that revision at the time you set.
