Comment:

 I would love to make our SSL support more robust. In this case, it seems
 like it's easily possible to filter the site URL and provide whatever
 extra ports you need. If adjustments need to be made beyond that (dd32
 points out some examples), I'm happy to make those changes.

 What's the specific proposal here? Let's peel back the idea of a constant
 and see what we can do to make it less hacky to do this with a plugin.
