 Regarding caching of results, is there a difference in specifying the
 fields as a query argument or using the "posts_fields" or
 "posts_fields_request" filters that are already available?  I'm thinking
 this is another way to accomplish the same thing in a more-direct manner
 than using the filter system -- and if they're both equally good/bad for
 caching, then why not allow it?
