 @jorhett the ''best'' thing to do is just start writing a patch to make
 the changes you are proposing to fix the problem. While there's no
 guarantee a patch can be accepted, a patch with proof of implementation
 will be 1000x better than an argument over what is proposed and what is
 not proposed going on for another x number of replies.
