 I'm using transients to temporally store session data retrieved from an
 external API. If this data is deleted during the user's session then it's
 going to cause issues.

 Is there a way to only have expired transients removed during upgrades?

 I'm all for keeping the options table clean, but having all transients
 removed during database upgrades defeats the purpose of the transient API
 (when used correctly) don't you think?
