 To summarise this ticket:
 1. #25052 - WordPress downloads should be signed
 1. [25308] - WordPress API requests should use SSL / downloads should be
 delivered over SSL (API's return HTTPS links when accessed via HTTPS)
 1. #25007 - Not all WordPress installs can make SSL requests, lets fix it
 1. #22704 - WordPress Automatic Updates - should only work over SSL,
 that's a task on that ticket
