 FWIW I'm not against [attachment:25716.3.diff​] either, I think that's a
 good choice for patching over this for now in a .1 release.

 What I don't like is that the cURL handler claims to support SSL when it
 can't make successful requests, yet, we have a streams handler which most
 likely could've (in some environments at least).
