Comment:

 As helpful as this is, it seems like a pretty major change at this point
 that's bound to cause all sorts of problems with code that took the
 previous behavior into account. I have a handful of projects in the wild
 that I know of that will break and just have to wait until I hear about
 issues with the others.

 Considering this hasn't had much discussion, I'd like to open it back up
 for reconsideration. Is a breaking change here really worth the minor
 benefit it provides?
