 I'm in 100% agreement with this. Check that, 150% agreement.

 I tried to rewrite the JS as I prepped the patch; however, I was
 introducing new bugs left and right. In order to make the deadline and at
 least get us to a state consistent with the current state of MP6, we
 decided to port everything over as is (with the necessary changes
 mentioned above). My goal is to gradually rewrite this code over the next
 few weeks. I would love your keen eye on any patches to see if you think
 I'm heading in the right direction.
