 You're right, I ended up getting them to work as well. My main issue was
 not having ms_files_rewriting flag set for the blog. I don't think there
 is a place to edit that flag in the GUI, so I had to do it directly in the
 database.

 Also, it looks like ms-files.php is hardcoded to pull files from
 blogs.dir, is that correct?
