 The dilemma would have been inverted, if a simple filter could override
 the entire query making process.

 Also there are problems ordering only by post_date. we had to rewrite all
 the functions to just order custom post types by anything beside date.

 Either way please don't forget to pass $taxonomy through all the filters.
