Comment:

 As per [https://irclogs.wordpress.org/chanlog.php?channel=wordpress-
 dev&day=2013-03-15&sort=asc#m576265 IRC chat this morning], I think this
 is a core issue rather than a theme issue. Moving the script to the footer
 is code-wise fairly trivial, we just need to get a consensus if this is a
 step we should take.
