 updates in 23497.15.diff

  * more bug fixes
  * only compare diffs required, for two handle comparison, skip
 calculation and return blank for diffs to the right of the right handle
 (for left handle drags) or to the left of the left handle (for right
 handle drags). since its impossible to drag the right handle past the left
 handle or visa versa in the two handle mode, we can skip calculating these
 diffs
