 I knew something didn't look right there...

 Thanks @nacin for the patch. You're right, no need for a class just to
 wrap couple of functions. However this will have to work from the front-
 end for logged in users (things like P2), so it would probably need
 another PHP function or two.

 For now thinking to make is a static class to fix the error, then revisit
 in the next few days.
