 From an accessibility standpoint, as long as the contrast ratio is in
 compliance with the WCAG2 guidelines for reading on the front-end (see
 #23513) I don't see a problem with matching it for writing that has to be
 read on the back-end. I see your point though.

 Semantics aside, I think it's another nice touch that sets this theme
 apart.
