Comment (by helen):

 We need to make the UI simpler, not more complex with more choices. I
 would imagine that CPT support for the homepage would be a filter for
 developers, not a default behavior. We can see what turning on such an
 option would do to the UI if it happens, but I don't think we need to
 accommodate it until then.
