Once we stop slashing the super globals, a new API isn't really needed.
+1. If we don't need to abstract GPCS to execute this, let's avoid doing
so. The plan as above sounds like the best approach, since it means we
kill off the slashed data expectation as soon as possible.
(Raw SQL queries using GPC may be related to #21663)
