 I'd say no; a 5.3 requirement isn't on the table for the near future,
 since we still have [http://wordpress.org/about/stats/ a huge percentage]
 on 5.2. Waiting will mean it won't get done.

 This ticket is also related to #18322 and how we end up handling it there,
 so it will want to be in sync with that.
