Comment:

 Not necessarily a suggestion, just a topic to bring up I didn't see in any
 other trac tickets.

 Backwards compatibility wouldn't be an issue since we're validating on new
 username registration, correct me if I'm wrong.

 There wouldn't be any benefit other than adhering to some vague standards.
 I'll close as wontfix.
