 The plugin you were pointed to on #23440 was
 [http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/co-authors-plus/ Co-Authors Plus],
 which had a new version released about a month ago,
 [https://github.com/Automattic/co-authors-plus is regularly maintained],
 and quite actively used.
