Comment:

 Cannot reproduce on r26746. Fresh installation, imported the XML file
 downloaded from the Codex (https://wpcom-themes.svn.automattic.com/demo
 /theme-unit-test-data.xml). Shows comment number fine in multiple places
 within the admin:
