 What ever purpose the user sees fit. If they choose to change the default
 behavior, then obviously they have a good reason (especially since it
 requires making a concerted effort to figure out ''how'').

 One increasingly common reason is that as portable programs become more
 popular, putting temporary files on flash-media (when avoidable) is a poor
 design choice.
