 Sure, there are many ways to get involved:
 http://codex.wordpress.org/Contributing_to_WordPress. It's going to be
 some time before the first patch (or usable core plugin) is good enough
 for testing. In the meantime perhaps have a look at the
 [http://www.tinymce.com/wiki.php/Tutorial:Migration_guide_from_3.x main
 differences] between TinyMCE 3.x and 4.x and what will be needed to make
 sure 3.x code doesn't break. For example we will probably need to add back
 all the old-style events: `editor.onClick.add(), editor.onKeyDown.add(),
 tinymce.onAddEditor.add()`, etc. to at least avoid fatal errors.
