 No there isn't.  Unless this has changed recently elsewhere, if you
 explicitly attach `post_tag` or `category` to a custom post type (e.g. via
 `register_taxonomy()`, those posts will not appear in the respective
 taxonomy archives.

 That is not what the ticket is suggesting.
