 Thanks @theozero yes that helped me.

 I can confirm this to be working on Ubuntu 12.04 and 13.04. CURL is not
 installed by default if you install the LAMP stack or just PHP. Usually
 you'll need a sudo in front of this command.

 "sudo apt-get install php5-curl"
