 Hi ericlewis, this is a standard convention in place with many, many
 WordPress themes including the last 3 default themes.

 The UX is also important for posts without a title, in which case the date
 serves as the permalink and entry point to view the post.

 I don't agree that clicking a post's date link would head to a date
 archive, that isn't a navigation pattern I've seen or used in the past
 with WordPress themes.
