Comment:

 This goes against the [http://wordpress.org/about/philosophy/ decisions
 not options ] philosophy of WordPress.  This is also something that is
 completely manageable by the theme and can be modified by plugins.

 The user already has some level of control and can choose to add the `<!--
 readmore-->` tag at any point.
