 I also believe that this is basic good UI behavior, and it would make
 sense to integrate it into core.

 I guess for most users this falls into a grey zone of inconvience where
 it's causing a tiny bit of frustration, but not enough for the user to
 think consciously about it or to take some action... I was somehow annoyed
 by this since years, but I never took the effort to look for a fix. I just
 happened to come across ocean90's contributor page one day :)
