Comment:

 FTR, this feature is also needed for the setup picked by the official
 Debian package where we wanted to have packaged plugins in and manually
 installed plugins kept in two different directories (which is not really
 possible, so we put symlink to packaged plugins in the directory which is
 controlled by the local administrator). It would thus be nice to see this
 issue fixed.
