Comment:

 Going to close this in favor of making separate tickets down the road when
 I get more time.

 Making new shortcodes that use oEmbed and/or the embed API is pretty easy:

 Using the embed API in comments, widgets, etc. is a lot more complicated
 and stuff like that deserves it's own specific tickets.
