 Been looking at these (and other) irregularities for some time, patches
 coming up soon.

 > (1) Inserting gallery when cursor isn't in the editing field fails
 silently.

 Thinking the previous behaviour is the correct one: adding the gallery at
 the end of the content.

 > (2) Invisible modifications occur in post content

 There is already a ticket for that #22266.

 > (3) Line return modifications occur when switching from "Text" to
 "Visual"

 This one should be fixed together with the fix for placing the caret
 before/after the view wrapper, #22257.
