Comment:

 Personal preference on testing is for the version with swatches - the
 other confuses me a bit with the multiple stripes and what chooses what
 exactly, even though conceptually I understand it. And yes, I think being
 able to custom define those swatches would be a big win :) I don't mind
 that they are bright, because they provide quick reference points to basic
 (pure?) screen colors users might be used to from other
 contexts/applications. Maybe just me, though.
