 This filter should be enough, actually:

 `do_action_ref_array('pre_ping', array(&$post_links, &$pung));`

 We could then add $post_ID to that, like so:

 `do_action_ref_array('pre_ping', array(&$post_links, &$pung, $post_ID));`
