 to replicate:

 1. Appearance -> Menus
 2. create a Menu (ex. "My Menu")
 3. add a Category as the first item in that Menu (ex. a category named
 "Learn")
 4. rename the Menu to something else (ex. "Main")
 5. Posts -> Categories
 6. the name of your Category ("Learn") is now the name of the Menu
 ("Main")
 7. rename the Category ("Learn")
 8. back to Appearance -> Menus
 9. the name of your Menu is now the name of your Category ("Learn")

 this has been reported to happen with Tags as well, see that ticket:
