 I don't think a page is a great solution for the "unlisted" use case.  It
 shows up in search and is often linked to by default in menus -- that can
 be changed, but it' extremely common.  I wrote a small (very incomplete)
 plugin along these lines: https://gist.github.com/1538036

 I don't personally think it belongs in core because plugins could do it
 just fine and I think most users would never touch it.  But it is a very
 different use case from pages.
