 [attachment:22975-apply-fix.patch] fixes the Enter New problem.

 "Add Custom Field" (and Update for existing custom fields) button results
 in javascript error.

 However, for new custom fields, the field is created and is then
 duplicated after updating/publishing/saving draft.
